Acaharya Nagarjuna University is located in region of Namburu, Guntur, Adnhra Pradesh, India. It is one of the major universities in the country covering many colleges and institutions of districts in the region.
University is situated in Nagarjuna Nagar, Namburu on the northern part of Guntur District. This is the major learning centre in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The University is an outgrowth of post graduate centre of Andhra University and it is established in 1967 at Nallapadu area of Guntur district and then relocated to Namburu/Kaza area on the east of the city. The city got affiliating university status in the year 1976 and opened with ten post-graduate courses.
The University is named after Acharya Nagarjuna the pre-founder of the Madhyamaka path of Mahayana Buddhism.
Apart from the main campus in Namburu region of Guntur District the university maintains two campuses in Nuzvid, Krishna District and Ongole, Prakasam District. University offer 44 courses in all the three campuses and it also offer post-graduate programmes of 292 colleges institutions in the region of Guntur, Krishna, Prakasam districts in Andhra Pradesh region.
University offers special MBA Programme which meets industry standards following signing of partner programs deal with Central Michigan University.
The University is specialized for its International Exchange programs. Various seminars and symposia take place in the university to promote the International education and research activities in the university regularly.
Recently a new college for engineering and technology started in the university main campus from the year 2010. This is the first to manage complete by the Government in Guntur region. AICTE visited the campus recently and completed inspection to give the grants and other recognition purposes to access and meet the minimum criteria.
The University has departments namely Department of Aquaculture, College of Architecture and Planning, Department of Biotechnology, Department of Biochemistry, Department of Chemistry, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Department of Political Science & Public Administration, Department of Sociology etc.
