The Maharaja Sayajirao College of Baroda is a college in the city of Vadodara, (Baroda) in Gujarat state, India. Initially known as the Baroda School of Science (secured 1881), it turned into a college in 1949 after the freedom of the nation. It was later renamed after its sponsor Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, the previous leader of Baroda State.

It is a showing and private college and the main college in Gujarat whose medium of direction is English for all courses. India Today has positioned it at tenth place in their rundown of India's best universities. while Hindustan Times has positioned it at sixth spot.
The college has its starting points in the Baroda School built in 1881 by Baroda State.

Pratap Singh Gaekwad of Baroda (1908–1968) (the last Maharaja of the past Baroda State) established the college in 1949 on the wishes of his granddad, Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III (1863–1939), and settled the "Sir Sayajirao Jewel Celebration and Dedication Trust" which exists to date, pander to the instruction and different needs of the populace of the previous Baroda State. The Maharaja Sayajirao College of Baroda is the main State College of Gujarat whose chancellor is not the legislative leader of Gujarat. The chancellor is an individual from the Illustrious group of Baroda.

Maharaja Pratap Singh Gaekwad: Served as the chancellor from 1949 to 1951. He was the first chancellor and was the grandson of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III. He was instrumental in the foundation of the college in 1949. Maharaja Fatehsinghrao Gaekwad: He was second chancellor and he stayed in office from 1951 to 1988. A clever manager, enthusiastic games significant other and cricketer, he served as the individual from Parliament and as a pastor in the administration of Gujarat. 

He was twice chosen president of the Leading body of Control for Cricket in India. Dr. Mrunalini Devi Puar: Dr. Puar; the sister of Maharaja Fatehsinghrao Gaekwad remained the Chancellor from 1988; up to her end in January 2015. The post is empty subsequent to 02 Jan 2015.

Maharaja Sayajirao Rao Gaekwad was a benefactor of Indian established music. Ustad Moula Bux established the Institute of Indian Music under the support of Sayajirao, on 26 February 1886. This institute later turned into the Music School and is presently the Workforce of Performing Specialties of MSU. Aside from Moula Bux, Sayajirao's Court bragged of craftsmen like Ustad Hazrat Inayat Khan and unbelievable Agra Gharana Aftaab e Mousiqui (Sun of Music) Ustad Faiyyaz Khansaheb.

After educationist Pt. Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande's music educational module was presented at the school, Gayanacharya Pt. Madhusudan Joshi turned into the first beneficiary of a recognition in Music (1932) in the historical backdrop of music training in India. He later on served the employees as a master for very nearly 42 years. Pt. Madhusudan Joshi (prominently known as Joshi expert) was prepared by Ustads like Ut. Faiyyaz Khan, Ut. Atta Hussain Khan of Agra gharana. Music chief Late Padmabhushan Shrinivas Khale was his pupil and graduated class of the Staff of Performing Expressions.
