Assam Agriculture University (AAU) is an agricultural University formed in 1969 under the act of Assam Agricultural University January 2nd 1969. The Jurisdiction of University extends to the whole Assam state with regard to teaching, research and extension education in agriculture and allied sciences fields.
University has many campuses and the main campus is located in Borbheta which is located 5Km from both bus stations and railway station and 2Kms from airport of the Jorhat city. It is easy to reach the place from Guwahati, the capital city of Assam.
The University was established with the objective of making the education to the people in agriculture and other allied branches of learning, For further advancements of learning and researching in agriculture and other allied sciences, for undertaking the extension of sciences to the rural people in the Assam state.

The Assam Agriculture University is working with the aim of producing globally competitive human resources in farm sector and also looking forward to carry the research in both conventional and frontier areas for production and optimization and also to determine the generated technologies.

Now there are five colleges, six regional agricultural research stations (RARS), Six Commodity Research centers and nineteen Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) in the state.
